November brought some interesting feature drops from YouTube and TikTok. While one platform is doubling down on AI editing, creator protection, the other prioritizes users’ mental health and AI detection. YouTube has also tightened the rules around spam and auto-generated content. Let’s break down every update so you can adapt fast and stay ahead!
New and Improved AI Features
Let’s start with the most promising yet controversial features implemented on YouTube!
Edit With AI: Automatic Editing for Faster Shorts Production
YouTube has been teasing Edit with AI for a while now, and finally, after months of waiting, it’s here! A new tool is available inside YouTube Create and the in-app camera that automatically edits your videos into compelling Short drafts. It’s meant to speed up production for Shorts and mobile-friendly content.
Here’s a more detailed view into its functionality:
- Automatic Clipping: upload a long video and AI will auto-cut it into multiple short clips, ready for instant Shorts publishing.
- Smart Framing: the system reframes horizontal footage into a vertical 9:16 layout.
- AI Effects & Music: YouTube adds trending effects and music automatically. Creators can adjust everything manually afterwards.
To get started with the tool, select images or videos from your camera roll and choose from a variety of editing styles (it can be something as simple as an AI voiceover that’s available in English and Hindi only as of now).
AI Help Chat: Faster Support for Creators
YouTube is testing AI-enhanced Creator Support through the Help Center and a new chat button in Studio.
What it can help with:
- Fixing account or technical issues
- Understanding policy and copyright rules
- Channel management questions
- Tips on using YouTube tools effectively
- Support with Content ID and rights management
Is it available in your country?
AI chat is currently offered in English for select creators outside the EU, UK, and Switzerland.
It behaves like a support chatbot, but one trained specifically on YouTube policy, documentation, and creator workflows.
AI-Powered Comment Reply Suggestions
YouTube Studio is rolling out AI-generated reply templates in 100+ languages. The AI:
- Reads the comment
- Understands tone
- Suggests multiple response options
- Lets you edit or customize before posting
The usage of this feature is completely optional and can be skipped altogether, but it can significantly speed up the process of replying to the comments and give you more precious time to create!
Super Resolution: Automatic Video Upscaling to 1080p
YouTube is rolling out AI-powered Super Resolution, automatically upgrading videos in the 240p-720p range to HD.
- Enabled by default (can be turned off in Studio)
- Great for creators with older archives or low-quality uploads
- Perfectly aligned with the new 50MB thumbnail limit, allowing crisp 4K thumbnails on TV
This is partly about bettering the viewing experience, especially on YouTube’s fastest-growing screen: TV.
Stricter Enforcement: Spam, Reposts & Auto-Content
YouTube works hard to reinforce some rules regarding spam, reposts without any meaningful editing & automatic content. What does it mean for creators? It means that YouTube is removing more channels that engage in:
- Mass auto-uploading
- Reposts with no editing
- Algorithm manipulation
- Text-to-video spam
- “Grey” automation strategies
Creators now get:
- 1-year limit on appeals
- Only one attempt to reverse a removal
YouTube is cracking down harder than ever on AI-generated spam flooding the platform. That, however, doesn’t mean that you can’t use AI at all. Just be mindful of it. If AI is part of your workflow, you must still add creative value.
Cosmetic Updates: Community Tab & Handle Display
Handle > Channel Name
YouTube is updating name displays in Studio and chat, which means that your @handle will be shown instead of your channel name. That in itself is similar to how TikTok, Instagram, and other platforms handle identity to avoid confusion.
Community Tab Upgrades
Creators can now:
- Pin posts at the top (great for rules, intros, announcements)
- Like subscriber posts directly
- Share a unique Community tab link across platforms
Private Chats: YouTube Tests 1:1 Messaging
YouTube is experimenting with private direct messaging inside the app. The feature is currently in testing in Poland and Ireland. What does it mean for creators? Well, when the feature is finally released for everyone, they will be able to:
- Share a video
- Discuss it directly within YouTube
- No switching to Instagram, WhatsApp, or Discord
This is part of YouTube’s long-term goal: keeping viewers inside the ecosystem as much as possible.
Less Intrusive Shopping
Floating product cards on mobile are moving under the video player. This makes the viewing experience cleaner while preserving (and improving) purchase conversion timing.
YouTube Health Launches in Arabic
YouTube Health is expanding to Arabic-speaking countries with:
- Medically verified information
- Trusted sources
- Curated video shelves for health-related searches
This is part of YouTube’s push to combat misinformation and surface expert content in sensitive categories.

TikTok Updates: A New Time & Well-Being Space
TikTok sees itself as a place where people unwind, reset, and recharge. As 2025 is wrapping up, TikTok is doubling down on that by launching a full-time & well-being space inside the app. This replaces the old ‘screen time management’ page and introduces new features designed to help people relax, manage their digital habits, and take intentional breaks.
What’s inside the new Well-Being space:
- Affirmational Journal: Users can set a daily intention using 120+ downloadable affirmation cards. It’s already the most popular new feature.
- Soothing Sound Generator: Rain, waves, white noise. Survey data shows TikTok users are 14% more likely than non-users to listen to relaxing audio.
- Guided Breathing Exercises: Short breathing sessions for mindfulness.
- Practical Safety & Usage Tutorials: From setting screen time limits to customizing the For You feed.
This is TikTok actively positioning itself as a platform that supports mental well-being, which is especially important for teens, who already have over 50 safety settings enabled by default.
For the same reason, TikTok launched four new Well-being Missions, gamified tasks that earn users badges as they complete them. The four missions include:
Sleep Hours Mission
- Users must stay off TikTok at night
- Meditation during Sleep Hours also counts
- Lasts 8 weeks, and users "grow" a digital Well-being tree
Daily Screen Time Mission
- Set a screen time limit and stick to it
Weekly Screen Time Mission
- Review your weekly usage report
Well-being Ambassador Mission
- Encourage others to join Well-being Missions
TikTok is also investing $100,000 into the Tech Coalition SafeOnline Research Fund to advance global research on youth online well-being. Experts like Dr. Eva Trujillo and Dr. Vicki Harrison praised the update for prioritizing mental health and responding directly to youth feedback.
Giving Users Control Over AI-Generated Content
AI-generated content (AIGC) is exploding, so TikTok is launching a new suite of tools around AI transparency, safety, and user control. A new option inside Manage Topics lets users choose whether they want to see:
- More AI-generated content
- The same amount
- Less AIGC on their For You feed
This works the same way as other category preferences (Dance, Food, Sports). TikTok emphasizes this doesn’t remove AI content, just adjusts the frequency according to the viewer’s own wishes.
Stronger AI Labeling
AI labels can be deleted when videos get reuploaded or edited elsewhere. To fix this, TikTok is adding invisible watermarking to:
- TikTok AI Editor Pro content
- Any video with C2PA Content Credentials
- Other TikTok AI-generative tools
Invisible watermarks can’t be easily removed and help TikTok detect AI content even after heavy edits. TikTok has already labeled 1.3 billion videos, but this new layer strengthens reliability significantly.
Bulletin Board: A New Creator-to-Fan Communication Tool
This is one of TikTok’s biggest creator-facing updates this year. A bulletin board is a one-to-many broadcast channel inside the TikTok app.
What creators can do:
- Post updates, announcements, and exclusives
- Share new tracks, drop pre-saves (artists)
- Notify fans instantly
- Add a bulletin board link to their profile
Fans can react with emojis, but cannot reply directly. What are the requirements to get this feature up and running on your TikTok page? Well, you need to be 18+ and have at least 50,000 followers.
Creators can toggle “Show on Profile” and pick a custom name for the channel.
