What happens when YouTube takes away your monetization, and you’re unsure what you might have done wrong? Let’s look at this case study and find the answer together!
The Challenge: Monetization Issues
For many artists, monetization barriers are a sensitive topic because of how often the entire video can get a yellow dollar sign for seemingly no reason. Or, what is worse, hackers and pirates can target your channel, which in itself is a whole different can of worms. It’s frustrating to deal with, and it definitely leaves one demotivated to create content further.
But it’s definitely not a reason to stop creating! It just means that you need an outside eye, and perhaps even outside help. That was the case with our partner and their music channel, which started getting claims seemingly out of nowhere.
They have faced challenges that were silently (but harshly) limiting their channel’s performance. Multiple videos were flagged with limited or no monetization. Rights-related issues were affecting revenue distribution.
But instead of going through every individual video on the channel to find what caused the demonetization and dealing with the YouTube appeal process (which could have taken them months, if not longer), they have decided to contact us for troubleshooting.
What We Did
We had the problem laid out in front of us, and it was time to deal with it. So, how did we do it?
Full Monetization Recovery and Troubleshooting
The main issue they have been dealing with is monetization. That’s where their main bottleneck lay. Therefore, we have:
- Written monetization appeals
- Submitted appeals together with the partner
- Worked on restoring monetization for videos with yellow/red icons
As a result, monetization was restored across the content faster than it would have been if they worked by themselves.
Content ID
Next up, channel’s protection. And what better way to protect the rights to your music than to connect your channel to Content ID? We connected two of their channels to Content ID to:
- Protect their original content
- Prevent unauthorized claims
- Ensure revenue is attributed correctly
Keep in mind that it’s almost impossible to set up by yourself. You need to have a certified partner by your side. And this can create a stable foundation for long-term monetization and rights management.
YouTube Strategy and Publishing Recommendations
Beyond technical fixes, we have also provided recommendations for small tweaks that could effectively propel their content forward. These tweaks included:
- Recommendations to achieve a stable and consistent publishing schedule
- How to structure uploads for the algorithm to notice
- How to plan content to sustain audience growth
Our partner followed these recommendations and began publishing at a more consistent and set schedule, which, combined with fixing their monetization issues, brought in amazing results!
The Results: +46.9% in Views
Overall channel growth was amazing. In less than 3 months, the views had grown to +46.9%:
- Views (Jul–Sep 2025): 2,683,213
- Views (Oct–Dec 2025): 3,943,003
- Absolute increase: +1,259,790 views

But the real question and the thing most creators are interested in is the revenue growth. So, how much did they grow during that period?
- Revenue growth: +48.0%
Why the Channel Grew
Those amazing results came from a combination of decisions. Technical fixes, of course, played a big role in their success, but so did strategic improvements to how they approach their content in the first place.
- Restoring monetization unlocked previously lost revenue.
- Content ID helped to avoid getting that issue later on.
- Consistent uploads improved visibility in the eyes of the algorithm.
