Super Thanks, Super Chat, and Super Stickers are YouTube’s fan-funding features, one-time purchases viewers make to tip a creator directly. YouTube calls the three of them collectively ‘Supers’. All three share the same revenue split: the creator keeps 70%.
Super Thanks works on uploaded videos and Shorts; Super Chat and Super Stickers work only during live streams and Premieres. All three pay creators 70% of the purchase, and all three unlock at the same fun-funding eligibility tier.
What Are the YouTube Supers?
Supers are YouTube’s umbrella term for its three tipping features. Each lets a viewer pay to support a creator in the moment, through a highlighted comment, a pinned chat message, or an animated sticker, and each is a separate, optional toggle in YouTube Studio.
Super Thanks
Super Thanks lets a viewer buy an animated reaction that plays over an uploaded video or Short, alongside a highlighted, color-coded comment in the comments section. Tip amounts are fixed at $2, $5, $10, or $50.
Unlike the other two Supers, Super Thanks works on regular uploaded videos and Shorts (not live streams), and it works on videos published in the past, giving it evergreen earning potential on a channel’s back catalog.
Super Chat
Super Chat lets a viewer pay to have their message highlighted and pinned at the top of the live chat during a live stream or Premiere. Viewers choose from nine preset amounts: $1, $2, $5, $10, $20, $50, $100, $200, or $500 (with localized equivalents in other currencies).
Both the message color and how long it stays pinned increase with the amount spent. Messages under $5 pin briefly; pin time scales up with price; the highest tier, $500, can stay pinned for up to five hours.
Super Stickers
Super Stickers let a viewer buy an animated sticker image that appears in live chat, in the same live streams and Premieres where Super Chat is available. Pricing sits in a similar range to Super Chat’s lower tiers. There’s no text or highlighted messages because Super Stickers are visual only.

Eligibility Requirements
All three Supers unlock at the same YouTube Partner Program fan-funding tier:
- 500+ subscribers
- 3,000 valid public watch hours in the past 12 months, or 3,000,000 valid Shorts views in the past 90 days
- Channel located in an eligible country
- The creator must be at least 18 years old
- No active Community Guidelines strikes
- Commerce Product Module terms accepted in YouTube Studio
Important: Super Chat and Super Stickers additionally require live chat to be enabled on the stream. None of the three Supers are available on channels or content marked "Made for Kids."
Revenue Split
YouTube keeps 30% of every Super purchase; creators receive the remaining 70%, paid out through AdSense alongside regular ad revenue once the account crosses the standard $100 payout threshold. That 70% share is notably higher than the 55% creators receive from standard ad revenue.
Important: purchases made through iOS may carry an additional Apple service fee, which can reduce what a creator actually receives relative to a purchase made on other platforms.
How to Enable
YouTube Studio → Earn → Supers → accept the Commerce Product Module
Then toggle on Super Chat, Super Thanks, and Super Stickers individually. Once enabled, Super Chat and Super Stickers activate automatically on any eligible live stream; Super Thanks is on by default across all eligible uploaded videos.
Earnings for all three are tracked at:
YouTube Studio → Analytics → Revenue → Supers
There, they are broken down by feature, viewer, and stream.
