August’s been heating up, and not just outside. This month, YouTube turns collabs into growth machines, vertical streams into donation power plays, and tests out smarter AI.
Meanwhile, Instagram drops a finally! feature that helps creators link Reels into real series, and TikTok updates its rulebook with new bans that could impact millions.
Let’s break it all down so you can adapt fast, stay compliant, and catch the next wave of opportunity.
YouTube Updates: Collabs, Streams & AI
YouTube brought a stack of updates this month, and they hit all the right spots for growth-focused creators.
Gift Goals in Vertical Streams
YouTube is testing Gift Goals in vertical livestreams, turning donations into game-time missions.
How it works:
- Creators can set a gift goal (like 25 Super Chats in 10 minutes).
- If viewers hit the goal, a reward is unlocked.
- Works only in vertical streams (for now).
- Leaderboards + donation “Jewels” are coming soon.
This update gamifies donations, creating hype and urgency mid-stream — a huge win for engagement and monetization.
New Collab Feature = More Reach
YouTube is testing native co-creator tagging, and it’s a chef’s kiss update.
What you’ll see:
- Co-creators’ avatars right under the video
- Names in the title
- An “+N more” option when there are multiple creators
Why it matters:
- Content is now recommended to all co-creators’ audiences
- Smaller channels can grow through strategic partnerships
- Viewers can jump to partner channels in one tap
It’s already live on MrBeast’s latest, and a full rollout is likely coming soon.

YouTube Create Adds Video Templates
YouTube Create (the mobile video editor) now includes video templates + free music.
Start with a structure → customize it → done.
Perfect for Shorts, trailers, and content batches that need speed and style.
Hype Feature Expands Globally
The Hype feature (which boosts new long-form content for small creators) is now in 17+ new countries.
Coming this fall:
- Themed leaderboards (Gaming, Beauty, etc.)
- Creators can post about the videos they’ve “hyped”
- Bigger channels can boost smaller ones publicly
Hype is becoming a real discovery engine. Test it early while it’s still under the radar.
Auto-Generated Descriptions Now in Testing
YouTube’s AI-generated descriptions are getting smarter. These show up as summaries under your videos, but don’t replace your original description.
Use this to:
- Improve discovery
- Give viewers a TL;DR
- Let AI handle the first draft
3 More YouTube Updates You Might’ve Missed
- Auto-dub editing is now possible inside Studio for auto-generated audio (manual dubbing support coming soon)
- Community posts now support 10 photos (up from 5)
- Promote has new CTAs like “Book Now” and “Contact Us”.
Instagram Updates: Reels Linking & Stats (Possibly)
Instagram just dropped a long-awaited storytelling upgrade and teased a powerful new stat that could change how creators track engagement.
Turn Reels into Watchable Series
Instagram now lets you link Reels together. You can finally create multi-part content that flows — automatically.
What it does:
- Adds a “Watch Part 2” (or more) button
- You can link new OR old Reels
- Viewers are guided through your full story
Great for:
- Tutorials
- Episodic storytelling
- Behind-the-scenes reveals
This is one of the most requested features ever, and it’s rolling out now.
Screenshots Might Become a Metric
In a recent Threads Q&A, Adam Mosseri said IG is considering tracking screenshots.
Why this matters:
- You’ll finally know what gets saved, shared, and screenshotted
- A new KPI could unlock hidden engagement data
- Might affect algorithm signals in the future
It’s not confirmed, but creators are ready.
TikTok Tightens Community Rules (Big Time)
TikTok’s updated rules go into effect September 13, 2025, and they come with real teeth.
AI disinformation will be removed, even if generated by AI.
Third-party tools (outside official TikTok API) are now fully banned.
That includes:
- “Grey” auto-posting tools
- Bot boosting services
- Unapproved analytics platforms
Bottom line: If it’s not official, it’s risky.
TikTok says:
- 85% of violating content is removed automatically
- 99% is removed before users even report it
Here’s Your To-Do Checklist
- Plan Collabs → Prepare titles, thumbnails, and strategy to maximize the new co-creator feature
- Test Gift Goals → If you stream vertically, add urgency with gamified donations
- Link Reels → Connect parts of your story to boost watch time and flow

- Add More Photos → Use the 10-image update to enhance Community tab posts
- Get Hype-Ready → If you’re under 500K subs, jump on the feature early for a growth boost
