Watching the traffic you’ve worked so hard on vanish practically overnight without a warning is every creator’s worst nightmare. How do you prevent it from happening? How do you recover if it happens? Let’s answer those questions.
Our partner, Spanish-speaking kids’ content channel with a well-established audience and solid performance history, faced a similar problem. In the second half of 2024, their metrics suddenly changed. Views began to drop drastically, and the decline wasn’t limited to one or two videos. It was channel-wide, affecting both trending and evergreen content.
Here’s what was done to turn things around, and how the channel went from a low point to nearly 60 million views in just one month.

The Problem
In October and November, the channel experienced a consistent downward trend across all key metrics: views, revenue, and profit.
There were no visible strikes, community guideline issues, or demonetization warnings. Still, the performance drop was undeniable.
We escalated the issue to YouTube via internal support, requesting an official traffic review. YouTube responded that no violations were detected and that the channel remained in good standing. However, that still left the traffic problem unsolved.

What We Did
Since the cause wasn’t visible on the surface, we approached it from two angles:
1. Internal Channel Escalation
We filed a formal request to escalate the case internally within YouTube’s partner support system. While YouTube had already completed a standard review, this process flags the channel for deeper algorithmic and manual checks, which is especially helpful when unexplained slowdowns occur across all videos.
2. Channel Moderation and Cleanup
We have also carried out a full moderation pass on the channel’s content. We audited existing videos to identify those with potentially weak performance signals such as low watch time, poor retention, or outdated optimization. Some of these videos were removed or updated to improve the overall content quality across the channel.
This cleanup helped improve how the algorithm viewed the channel as a whole.
The Results
By late December, we began to see the first signs of recovery. It wasn’t simply a viral spike from one video. It was a full-channel resurgence, with views and revenue rising across the board.

Overall the channel gained +547% increase in views and +121% in revenue.
Usually the traffic drops for a variety of reasons, but it’s important not to give up and look into the root cause of the problem. A few tweaks here and there could make a whole world of difference.
