Three strikes on three channels.
Our partner, a top-performing kids’ channel, had been hit hard. Music copyright reports that caused one red coin, two yellows, and no clear way out.
Despite having music licenses, copyright holders rejected their appeal. No explanation, no contact info to resolve this situation via dialog, and no movement on their objections.
We stepped in and helped the channel bounce back from strike-related suppression to over $5,300 in recovered revenue.
Let’s break things down.
The Red Coin
The channel had licensed the music in question, but the system rejected their appeal. Worse, the copyright claimant wasn’t responding to emails or providing any way to resolve it.
And this wasn’t isolated. The same music triggered claims on other localized versions of the channel, too.
“We filed an objection because we purchased the license… it was rejected. We don’t know why, and we don’t know how to contact the copyright holder.” – Channel team
Here is how we fixed the problem:
- Our copyright specialists tracked down and directly contacted the claimant by email (yep, like real detectives)
- We negotiated full removal of the copyright strike
- Then we reached out to YouTube support through our partner-certified channel to request a manual review of the channel health
This helped restore trust signals and reboost traffic.
Two Yellow Coins
- One yellow coin was successfully removed after direct negotiation with the claimant
- The second was resolved after the video was reuploaded and optimized
These may seem small, but for a kids' channel, even one yellow coin can tank distribution due to YouTube's strict trust policies.
The Results Were Clear
Once the strikes were gone and content was clean, YouTube’s algorithm re-opened the gates.
- March revenue alone: $1,652.12
- Total estimated revenue after recovery: $5,360.42
- 18.3M views and over 1 million watch hours
This was a full turnaround from the nearly flatline period seen in January.
Note the steep dip in December–February and the major spike in March after AIR’s intervention.

Why It Worked
This wasn’t a lucky bounce back. It worked because we handled the problem on three levels:
- Negotiation with copyright holders
- Direct communication with YouTube
- Technical guidance to correct content and restore monetization
We worked across every affected localized version to remove claims and stabilize monetization.
That’s the only way to build sustainable recovery. Copyright and monetization issues often spread across your whole content ecosystem, and if you only fix one surface-level problem, it’s going to come back.
