YouTube’s been rolling out AI tools for a while now, and they’re picking up speed. What started small is now helping creators grow faster and work smarter. Let’s take a look at YouTube’s native AI tools and how creators are making the most of them.
But first…
What’s YouTube’s Stance on AI Today?
With YouTube policies regarding AI it might seem like they’re against the use of it. But this isn’t true. Using AI as a helping tool is more than okay in YouTube guidebooks if you label it properly. As it stands, the content still needs to have human touch.
A few days ago, we received an email from YouTube stating that, starting July 15, 2025, new restrictions will apply to mass-produced, reused AI content.
There’s no official public announcement yet, but it’s on the way.
AI itself isn’t the issue though; the focus is on low-value content farms that offer no real value.
During the celebration of YouTube’s 20th anniversary at VidCon, we saw creators showcasing how YouTube AI tools (the Inspiration Tab, Dream Screen, and Auto-Dubbing) make their work three times faster.
Let’s walk through all of them.
1. AI Dubbing Feature
Starting with the most controversial tool YouTube rolled out not that long ago. Initially the feature was met with quite a bit of pushback from creators due to the poor dubbing quality.
As it stands now, YouTube introduced 11 new languages for auto-dubbing. But we often hear complaints that YouTube’s AI dubbing feature sounds soulless.
So far, this feature is the most useful for one thing: testing the markets. Turn it on, check your analytics in a month to see what regions are holding the average view duration.
Then, you can fully localize your content into those regions with the help of real human actors. The results can be impressive. Here’re a couple of them:
- Brave Wilderness (21M subs): 12 localized channels. Almost 400K+ new subs. 80 million views in 10 months.
- Amelka Karamelka (5.6M subs): 18 localized channels. Over 1M subs gained. 346 million new views from several different language regions.
Start with AI to see what lands and then expand with real voices. That’s how you use the full potential of YouTube’s AI dubbing feature at the moment!
2. YouTube Shorts and Veo 3
What’s Veo3? Well, it’s a generational tool created by Google, which officially goes public this summer on YouTube Shorts! It was a unique feature only the top YouTube creators had access to, but now it’s ready for everyone.
While this feature is useful, it won’t replace your personal touch and creative vision. It’s great for smaller things.
3. AI Mid-Roll Ads
Good news, everyone, the mid-roll ads are back in business, but with a twist. During BrandCast 2025, YouTube shared that they’re testing out a feature that should allow creators to use emotionally timed ads (potentially).
How would the feature work? With the help of AI, of course. YouTube’s AI will track the peak viewer engagement on a video, insert ads at those exact moments for maximum result.
The ‘Peak Point’ feature is expected to appear in Studio soon, which will overhaul the approach to content making, mainly the pacing. High-stake moments become twice as important now.
Want more ad revenue automatically?
There’s already a tool that helps you with that. It analyzes your content and optimizes ad placement to boost revenue and keep your audience watching happily.
4. Dream Screen for Shorts
Dream Screen is one of YouTube’s most visually exciting AI tools and it’s built specifically for Shorts. This feature lets creators generate AI backgrounds with just a prompt. Think of it like a smart green screen, no post-editing required.
Want to shoot a short vlog in space? Or place yourself in a pixel-art world? Just type your idea, and Dream Screen will generate a custom background in seconds.
And now it’s getting a serious upgrade, thanks to DeepMind V2.
You can now:
- You can create short AI-generated video clips (up to 6 seconds).
- Combine multiple scenes into one seamless short.
- Generate animated backgrounds that align with your script or overall mood.
Dream Screen is only available in a few countries (US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand), but a worldwide release is on the way. Once it’s live, it’s set to become a powerful creative boost for Shorts creators who want to add standout visuals without spending hours on editing.

5. Inspiration Tab
Another smart AI feature appeared in YouTube Studio in April. What does it do? The feature uses AI to help you out with the creative ideas by looking into your past content and comments the audience leaves under them.
Moreover, this feature is able to automatically suggest hooks that can help you improve on your video intros.
At VidCon, YouTube shared a wild example of just how creative this tool can get. Creator Sambucha (10M+ subs) tried it out, and the AI suggested: buy a bunch of products that look AI-generated.
One of them was a 7-foot-tall gorilla couch that actually got delivered to his room and that video alone pulled in nearly 7 million views in just a few months.
Sometimes the best-performing ideas come straight from Studio’s built-in tools.
And good news for more creators. Since June 2025, Inspiration Tab has started rolling out in Europe, including the EU, UK, and Switzerland. So if you're based there, it's time to give it a go.
6. AI Music Generator on YouTube
Through tools like YouTube’s AI Music Generator (currently experimental), creators can prompt background music to fit the mood of a video. It’s framed as a creative helper. It will, supposedly, be able to build an original music soundtrack based on the command you type.
If you don’t have the budget to get a composer, this feature is a huge shortcut. It’s still in beta development, but we believe that announcement of similar features means that YouTube will introduce more and more aimed to simplify the creator’s workflow.
7. AI Thumbnail Testing (A/B)
Finally, YouTube now lets creators run A/B tests on thumbnails via “Test and Compare.” This is one of the most powerful tools they’ve released (and somehow one of the more controversial). We’ve seen some creators complain that the AI A/B testing feature chooses thumbnails that are ‘watered down’ and ‘safe’ for the algorithm.
But AI always tries to appease the algorithm and choose the least risky and the most performing option out of the ones you have. So, don’t skip that thumbnail testing part.
8. YouTube Search
Yet another support feature, but this time aimed at users. YouTube is testing improvements to YouTube Search (using AI), which is currently only available for some US Premium users. So, what exactly does this feature do? First of all, it scans the video transcripts to find the exact moments the user is searching for.
This will help well-structured content to appear more in the search results, and at the same time this will punish creators who don’t structure their videos at all (or do it, but do it badly).
9. Gemini’s Coming for AI Voiceovers
Okay, technically not a YouTube-native tool, but Google’s Gemini is about to make some serious noise.
Right now, Eleven Labs is the go-to name when it comes to AI voiceovers. It's the industry standard. But Gemini is stepping up, and it’s aiming high.
It’s powering AI narration, multi-voice storytelling, and soon, will likely plug right into YouTube Shorts, Auto-Dubbing, and even interactive content.
We’re not there just yet, but voice AI is speeding up development fast, and YouTube (via Google) is making sure creators get direct access without bouncing between 10 tools.
Deepfakes Policy
But with a lot of really cool AI features that have been released and are in the works, YouTube has also put measures in place to prevent people from abusing Deepfake content. Recently, they’ve announced that they will be putting tools in place aimed specifically to detect Deepfake content.
Creators can report the abuse of generative impersonation AI and more. This signals that YouTube is pro-AI, but is ready to crack down on it if it’s grossly misused.
So, What Is YouTube Really Pushing?
Boiled down, here’s what YouTube is nudging us toward with AI:
- More content with less friction over the boring parts.
- Greater global reach.
- Algorithmic friendliness.
- Consistent engagement.
Use AI tools to speed up your workflow, but don’t forget about your own creativity and your personal touch. The creators who win in the AI era won’t be the ones who automate the most, they’ll be the ones who blend tech with instinct better than anyone else.
